Loved this unusual book stand in the corner of this space. I always love a mirror across from a window for bringing in all that light! Family room designed by Tocco Finale Home, Pasadena Showcase House of Design. The entire space was treated in black, white and gold to highlight the spectacular original stained glass windows on the second floor. With winter fast approaching, there's another type of winterizing you can do with your home. The green fractured geometric really plays with the vintage diamond window nicely. This striking colorful sofa brought some drama to this room.

While each one promotes artisanship, handcraft, and design in its unique way, they share the tradition of offering the public the widest range of artisan creations to be found anywhere. Studio Designer’s visit to Pasadena Showcase House of Design this month proved the enduring value of such in-person design collaborations. Designers get a chance to “go big” with a richly appointed showhouse design and get to share their creative work to the public. Design fans of all backgrounds get the rare opportunity to see a grand estate up close and get familiar with prevailing trends of the trade.

The tour will feature a house designed by architect Richard Bates known to Bauer as the “palm tree house,” home to a subtropical botanic garden with 140 species of palm. There were so many custom features here too, using exceptional products. Jeanne is just the queen of incorporating state of the art luxury into her functional, practical designs. The sunroom was such a bright spot on this tour with the perfect place for your morning coffee or a refreshing iced tea in the afternoon. The lush greenery outside that charming leaded glass window flowed into this room for a seamless feel. The living room, designed by Robert Frank Interiors, was so calm and relaxing but very chic. The wood in this room was previously all dark and it was lacquered white to give a fresh and contemporary appeal.

Studio Designer had the pleasure of visiting the Pasadena Showcase House of Design on a beautiful spring afternoon. The quiet beauty of the home’s neat Tudor style details on the exterior do not quite prepare you for the striking and varied creativity of all the designs inside. After learning so much about taking interiors photographs from my designer/photographer friend, Linda Holt, I am really confident in my shooting and even some photo editing done after the fact.

Library designed by Stephanie Hatten of SH Interiors, Pasadena Showcase House of Design. What a handsome library this was with lots of special details! Wallcovering on the ceiling and in the backs of the bookcases made for such a luxurious look. First of all, Pasadena is such a gorgeous city, just driving the streets and looking at the charming homes is fun for me. Secondly, these designers really bring their A-game and everything is just stunning.

Pasadena Bead & Design Show puts you face to face with independent artisans, studio artists, and craftspeople, who make innovative, brilliant, and handcrafted jewelry, gemstones, beads, clothing, and other hard-to-find goods. Admission at the door is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 60 and older; children 12 and younger are admitted free. Save $2 by purchasing online and printing your own tickets. Touted as the largest and longest-running event of its kind on the West Coast, the home show has been delivering the latest in home and garden trends, products and expert advice to homeowners for more than five decades. Sleek, streamlined Swedish design takes the spotlight when the Southern California Home and Garden Show returns to the Anaheim Convention Center for five consecutive days, starting Wednesday. Designers were tasked with transforming the mansion’s interiors on a tight deadline over the course of four very industrious months.

The guild has also underwritten hospital employee scholarships and supported the Constance G. Zahorik Appearance Center to benefit cancer patients. At the foothills of the looming San Gabriel Mountains lies the eclectic community of Altadena, home to palm-laden streets and dotted with historic homes. Altadena Guild of Huntington Memorial Hospital will be hosting its 69th Home & Garden Tour on Sunday, May 1, in hopes to raise money for a new cadiac care center.

They all had to design, source products, renovate, and install their rooms in this compressed timeframe using the year’s color palette all while facing the numerous challenges that a 115-year-old home presents. PSHA supports a diversity of programs including musical theater, orchestra, jazz ensembles, marching bands and choral groups at local schools. The last stop on the downstairs tour was the spectacular kitchen and butler’s pantry, designed by Jeanne Chung of Cozy, Stylish Chic. I loved the wallpaper, the hanging rack and the dark painted trim and cabinetry. Come in here for your morning cuppa and put on a load of washing. There were too many people in the home gym for a good pic, but it was definitely built for a workout.
